Eating out in Egypt runs late: dinner often starts after 20:00, and many restaurants and cafés stay open until midnight and beyond, especially on Thursday nights and in summer. Delivery is everywhere, either by calling the restaurant or through apps such as Talabat and elmenus, sometimes with different prices and offers on each. Many restaurants add a 12 % service charge and 14 % VAT to the bill, so ask for the final price; tipping is customary but optional. During Ramadan the timings shift, with the main rush at iftar and service running on towards suhoor.

Opening hours are published for all seven days of the week. Typical hours are 08:00–00:00. Timings usually change during Ramadan, at Eid and on other public holidays, and some shops open later on Friday around midday prayers, so call before a long trip. You can reach Salt of Earth on 010 6983 7774; calling is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses in Egypt also answer on WhatsApp.

salt of earth has to be one of the best spots to dine in here in cairo, good variety of selection, very tasty dishes , israa was our waitress and she recommended the sea-bass and the saffron shrimp risotto to us and they were a 10/10 choices , very friendly staff and great service definitely coming back soon to try other dishes. ( special thanks to mohammed, Israa and Dina for making sure that we had the best experience at the restaurant)

The food quality is really good, well priced with very generous portions. Servoce by Hassan and the manager really showed that this place cares about customer experience. All plates we tried were 5/5

Had a great experience at Salt of Earth. We ordered the salmon dish, a chicken dish, mini truffle burgers as an appetizer, and French onion soup. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. The food quality was excellent, the flavors were outstanding, and every dish was served fresh. The service was also exceptional—friendly, attentive, and professional. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Looking forward to visiting again!

It was pretty good, especially for an American Traveler. My coffee mug had lipstick on it and I could tell not all dish ware was clean. Didn’t make a big fuss about it, just removed whatever I saw on the cups. Prices are on the higher end and can easily expect a 1250+ EGP for a party of 2 or more. Could’ve been better, they seem to take on more customers than they can manage. I’d avoid going at peak times.
