Eating out in Egypt runs late: dinner often starts after 20:00, and many restaurants and cafés stay open until midnight and beyond, especially on Thursday nights and in summer. Delivery is everywhere, either by calling the restaurant or through apps such as Talabat and elmenus, sometimes with different prices and offers on each. Many restaurants add a 12 % service charge and 14 % VAT to the bill, so ask for the final price; tipping is customary but optional. During Ramadan the timings shift, with the main rush at iftar and service running on towards suhoor. Syrian and Lebanese restaurants are known for hot and cold mezze, shawarma, grills and fresh bread; they have spread across Egypt in recent years, and dishes are usually ordered to share.

Opening hours are published for all seven days of the week. On most of those days it is open 09:00–00:00. Timings usually change during Ramadan, at Eid and on other public holidays, and some shops open later on Friday around midday prayers, so call before a long trip. The listed phone number is 010 2250 0345. From abroad dial +20 and then the number without its leading zero (five-digit hotlines work only from within Egypt); calling ahead is the norm for bookings and to confirm timings.

Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 3,617 reviews, a high score, though the most recent reviews are still the best guide to what visitors find today.

This business is in New Cairo, Cairo Governorate, part of Greater Cairo, Egypt's capital and the largest urban area in the Arab world, spreading along both banks of the Nile from Downtown, Zamalek, Garden City, Heliopolis and Maadi to new cities such as New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, 6th of October and the New Administrative Capital, with the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum on its edge. The Cairo Metro's three lines link many districts, but traffic is part of daily life, so allow extra time at rush hour. Summers are hot and dry, winters mild with little rain, and streets and shops stay busy late into the night.

2625 Egyptian pounds for 2 people. Expect American prices. The place has 12% service charge and 14% VAT. I understand it’s an upscale place, but I went to Em Sherif in Saudi and it didn’t meet my expectations and quality in other countries. I got the tea I kept ordering while paying for the bill and it was a cup of hot water I had to add the tea bag to 😭 The food was very mediocre, the service was slow and the place wasn’t busy. I noticed this trend in Egypt in comparison to other Arab countries like Jordan and Saudi. You’ll pay a hefty price tag but won’t get the service and quality expected for the same exact restaurants.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Em Sherif Cairo. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was elegant, and the service was outstanding. Special thanks to Ahmed Mustafa and Yasin, who took great care of us throughout the evening — both were professional, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Exceptional experience here. The food was amazing! The shisha was good too however it was a windy day and they did not cover the top with aluminum to prevent the coals from burning from the wind. Everything good wise was made to perfection. Extreme flavor in every bite. The staff is also very attentive. Would definitely come again when visiting.

I tried three items: chicken musakhan, beef shawarma, hummus, and eggplant fattah. The chicken musakhan was really disappointing, the eggplant fattah was just okay, while the beef shawarma was actually good. Overall, the food tasted fine but very average nothing special. The portions were quite small for the price, which made it feel overpriced. I wasn’t upset by the experience, but I wouldn’t repeat it or recommend it to others.

Overall Em Sherif Cafe Egypt is a very good place to have quality breakfast. The service was excellent and staff are friendly. The Hummus tasted great but was not so keen on the grilled halloumi cheese which came in large thick cubed pieces (did not taste great). The omelette, manaqeesh and falafel were great. We were served by a guy called Ahmad who was attentive and very polite. It may be a little pricy.
