About كشري ابو طارق
Koshary Abou Tarek is a prominent restaurant chain in Egypt, renowned for its signature dish, Koshary. The establishment's founder, Abou Tarek, began selling Koshary from a humble street cart in Cairo during the 1950s.
كشري ابو طارق is a koshary and foul shop in Downtown, Cairo. It is listed at ١٦ شارع معروف، معروف، قسم قصر النيل، محافظة القاهرة 4272135, and this page gathers what people usually check before a visit: where it is, how to get there, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Eating out in Egypt runs late: dinner often starts after 20:00, and many restaurants and cafés stay open until midnight and beyond, especially on Thursday nights and in summer. Delivery is everywhere, either by calling the restaurant or through apps such as Talabat and elmenus, sometimes with different prices and offers on each. Many restaurants add a 12 % service charge and 14 % VAT to the bill, so ask for the final price; tipping is customary but optional. During Ramadan the timings shift, with the main rush at iftar and service running on towards suhoor. Koshary, foul and taameya are Egypt's best-known street food: koshary mixes rice, lentils, pasta and chickpeas with tomato sauce, garlic vinegar and crispy onions, and Egyptian taameya is made from fava beans rather than chickpeas. Foul and taameya shops usually open early for breakfast, and prices suit every budget.
Opening hours are published for all seven days of the week. The most common schedule is 07:00–01:00. Timings usually change during Ramadan, at Eid and on other public holidays, and some shops open later on Friday around midday prayers, so call before a long trip. You can reach كشري ابو طارق on 02 2577 5935; calling is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions, and many businesses in Egypt also answer on WhatsApp.
Customers rate it 4.3 out of 5 on Google across 44,098 reviews, a high score, though the most recent reviews are still the best guide to what visitors find today.
This business is in Downtown, Cairo Governorate, part of Greater Cairo, Egypt's capital and the largest urban area in the Arab world, spreading along both banks of the Nile from Downtown, Zamalek, Garden City, Heliopolis and Maadi to new cities such as New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, 6th of October and the New Administrative Capital, with the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum on its edge. The Cairo Metro's three lines link many districts, but traffic is part of daily life, so allow extra time at rush hour. Summers are hot and dry, winters mild with little rain, and streets and shops stay busy late into the night.

If you are looking for the quintessential Cairo Koshary experience, Abou Tarek in Downtown is a legendary landmark that you simply cannot miss. The Highlights: The Food: Absolutely amazing! The koshary was piping hot, incredibly fresh, and packed with layers of perfectly cooked lentils, rice, macaroni, crispy fried onions, and a rich, flavorful tomato sauce. Paired with their garlic-vinegar sauce (da’a) and hot chili sauce, every bite was pure comfort food heaven. The Atmosphere & Service: The multi-story restaurant is a well-oiled machine. Despite the massive crowds, the service was remarkably fast, efficient, and friendly. The staff members were attentive many thanks to Mahmoud Sheka and welcoming throughout our meal. The Disappointment: My only major issue—and it’s a frustrating one—was the noticeable double standard regarding how locals versus foreigners/Arab tourists are treated. During our visit, I discovered that there are additional menu items and options that were never shown or offered to us, which felt exclusionary and left a sour note on an otherwise great dining experience. The Verdict: Abou Tarek serves world-class koshary and is a must-visit for the food alone.

If you're looking for the best koshary in Egypt, Abou Tarek is the place to visit. The koshary is absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked pasta, lentils, chickpeas, crispy fried onions, and a rich, flavorful tomato sauce and lemon garlic sauce that comes together beautifully. Every bite is packed with authentic Egyptian flavor. The service is quick and friendly, and despite how busy the restaurant gets, everything is well organized. The atmosphere is lively and gives you a true taste of Cairo's food culture. A must visit for anyone who wants to experience authentic Egyptian koshary. Highly recommended 👌

I haven’t tried before koshari , though I like it a lot with the lentils , chickpeas blended perfectly with the tomato sauce and the pasta. The service was very good . Even though it is crowded , you will get served very quickly. Very clean place. It is not ideal to spend more time after the meal . Cheap for the quality of the food and the clean place where it is served. Worth trying it!

Forget everything you know about casual dining. Abou Tarek is a five-floor, packed-to-the-max experience! The energy is electric, and the service is very fast. This wasn't just a meal, it was a great highlight for our trip. The koshary itself is so yummy! The spicy salsa is my favorite! And the portion sizes are no joke. A "small" plate is so incredibly fulfilling, it can keep someone full for the entire day. The best part? For about $5 total, we got 4 plates w/ beverages. Unbelievable value for such yummy, soul-satisfying food. An absolute must in Cairo!

This was a very unique Egyptian dinner. The restaurant was very busy but had 5 floors and so we got a table quickly. While it may not look the most conventionally delicious, It was phenomenally tasty and came with a whole demonstration too! We Would definitely recommend trying here. AMAZING value for money!! About 525 Egyptian pounds for 6 meals and 6 water bottles!!
