Eating out in Egypt runs late: dinner often starts after 20:00, and many restaurants and cafés stay open until midnight and beyond, especially on Thursday nights and in summer. Delivery is everywhere, either by calling the restaurant or through apps such as Talabat and elmenus, sometimes with different prices and offers on each. Many restaurants add a 12 % service charge and 14 % VAT to the bill, so ask for the final price; tipping is customary but optional. During Ramadan the timings shift, with the main rush at iftar and service running on towards suhoor. Bakeries sell baladi bread, fino rolls and pastries, with subsidised bread distributed through the ration-card system, while patisseries get busiest in Ramadan for konafa and qatayef and before Eid al-Fitr for kahk and biscuits, so order large quantities early.
Opening hours are published for all seven days of the week. The most common schedule is 07:00–00:00. Timings usually change during Ramadan, at Eid and on other public holidays, and some shops open later on Friday around midday prayers, so call before a long trip. The listed phone number is 010 0846 6664. From abroad dial +20 and then the number without its leading zero (five-digit hotlines work only from within Egypt); calling ahead is the norm for bookings and to confirm timings.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 551 reviews, a strong result for a bakery in Smouha that points to clearly satisfied customers.
This business is in Smouha, Alexandria Governorate, on Egypt's Mediterranean coast, home to Alexandria with its long Corniche, fish restaurants, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Qaitbay Citadel; westwards the North Coast stretches past summer resort villages and New Alamein to the beaches of Marsa Matrouh, with Siwa oasis deep in the desert. Summers are milder than in Cairo thanks to the sea breeze, the North Coast season peaks in July and August when roads and resorts fill up, and winters are rainy, with stormy 'nawat' bringing wind and high waves. Some seasonal shops close outside summer, so check opening hours before you go.

French-style Bakery with an old Parisian aesthetic, serving all kinds of laminated pastry and choices of coffee. Ordered: - Pain Suisse - Cappucino Located on one of the main roads in the Smouha neighbourhood, this establishment draws decorative inspiration from High Renaissance French Restaurants. The bustling establishment is roamed by proactive staff dressed in themed attire, serving customers over classic French tunes. A cherry on top to seal l’expérience française. Now on to the food, the pain suisse was quite a delightful package. With a crisp flaky exterior, a tender interior, and a filling that surprisingly preserved its gooiness, albeit my initial judgment. The flavour profile, however, was just sweet (with notes of chocolate). Which, while pleasant, lacked that nuanced flavour of butter-baked goodness that I expect of high-end laminated pastry. Unfortunately, I have two REAL gripes with the place. First, the coffee. While the espresso base itself was ok, I have very few good things to say about the craftsmanship. The cappuccino was watery, lacked any foam, and resembled more of a “wet” Latte that teeters into café au lait territory. This is a common mistake/misconc

I recently visited Le Goût Parisien in Alexandria, and it was such a delightful experience! Their pastries truly bring a taste of Paris to the city. The half-and-half croissant was absolutely the best — perfectly flaky, buttery, and so unique. The croissant pan was also amazing, full of flavour and baked to perfection. I tried the Nutella croissant, which was rich and satisfying, especially if you love chocolate. The only item that didn’t impress me as much was the croissant wheel, which wasn’t as fresh as the rest. But honestly, everything else more than made up for it. The drinks were fabulous, and the overall atmosphere was warm and elegant. A beautiful spot for anyone craving quality pastries and a cosy Parisian vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back! 🥐✨

We’ve been to Le Gout Parisien three or four times already, and we keep coming back because we absolutely love it. 🥐☕ Sometimes you have to wait a bit until a table becomes available, but honestly, that just shows how popular this place is — and for good reason! The atmosphere is beautiful — lively, yet still comfortable enough to have a nice conversation without shouting. The staff has always been excellent; sure, once in a while you need to call someone over, but that’s only because the café is always so busy. Everything about this place is just wonderful. The breakfast is absolutely delicious (and honestly, you could eat it all day), and the desserts are simply out of this world. 🍰 For us, it’s a must-visit every time we come to Alexandria from Marsa Alam. There hasn’t been a single trip to Alexandria without a stop at Le Gout Parisien — and we’re already looking forward to the next one! ❤️
